Enable Impact Project

Public Building are not usually prepared to Energy Efficiency. The main difficulty is to understand the possibility of energy saving in the Municipal premises and the advantages that may derive from proper interventions.

The European Enable Impact project aims at putting local authorities in the conditions to have a standard and cost-effective procedure and tool for an energy audit of the public and popular residential buildings. For this reason, a standard, internet-based product has been created in order to implement the audit procedure of buildings. It consists in a database, online, where the data collected are uploaded, in order to get to the diagnosis of the public building analysed. The data uploading gives as output the energy diagnosis of the public building. Through this tool, local authorities are put in the conditions to gather financial resources to improve energy performance of public buildings, coming both from agreements with local credit institutions and from internationally defined devices.

Moreover, through this project, new mechanisms to improve the behaviours of the buildings occupants in the use of energy can be found, both acting on the awareness raising and using "symbolic" incentives (e.g.: days off, organisation of events, free lunches etc.) awarding positive results of energy use.

The participants in the project are:

  • Germany: Municipality of Oederan, Municipality of Meerane, Municipality of Arnsdorf, Gertec ltd. Engineering company
